SFO’s Jessica Feil Recognized for Leadership Skills by Armed Forces

Jessica Feil medal

SFO Emergency Management Coordinator Jessica Feil was recently awarded the Armed Forces Joint Service Achievement Medal for her leadership skills in the Pacific Sentry Capstone Exercise.  Jessica received the award for her role in working with simulated battle strikes designed to test the military’s strategic and operational warfighting competencies.

Jessica has worked in the Airport’s Safety and Security Services department since February of 2016 while maintaining an active role as an Air Force Reservist.  Stationed out of Beale Air Force Base, California, she participates in active military exercises twice a year and finds the skills that she hones in the Reserves have a direct impact on the work that she does at SFO.

“My military work is in emergency management, which is what I do here at the Airport, so the work translates very directly” says Jessica.  “My role with these exercises is in development, design and execution, and this is something that we do every year here at SFO in preparation for the full-scale emergency exercise.”

The Capstone exercise took place between 9/11 and 9/23/17 and covered regions throughout the globe.  Comprising all branches of the Armed Services, Jessica manned a simulation cell out of Hawaii and played an integral role in testing U.S. military response.

SFO congratulates Jessica Feil on her achievement and is proud to have her representing our Emergency Management team.  The Airport will look to her leadership skills as we continue to Reach for Number 1.
