Twin Peaks Tunnel Closure Starts June 25

Construction on the Twin Peaks Tunnel began on Monday, June 25, 2018 and will continue through the end of August. Work on this project will take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, causing the tunnel to be closed continuously for approximately two months. The following will happen during the construction:

  • Muni’s Forest Hill station will be closed
  • West Portal station will be closed
  • The K Ingleside will travel a shortened route
  • Bus service will be substituted for the L Taraval and M Ocean View lines
  • Express buses will not operate
  • Additional N Judah trains will be in service to carry the extra passengers

A closure of this magnitude may cause inconvenience and impact neighborhoods and commutes across San Francisco. There is a video with map animations highlighting temporary stops, transfer points, and alternative routes to help you get around. Additionally, a comprehensive rider guide in English, Chinese, Spanish and Filipino is available to view or print from our website. A detailed blog article is also included below.
