Low-Cost Airline Norwegian Announces Plan to Move London Flights from Oakland to SFO

Airline brings low-fares, 787 Dreamliner service, from SFO to London-Gatwick March 31st, 2019

Low-cost airline Norwegian today announced plans to move its existing nonstop London-Gatwick service from Oakland to SFO in the spring of 2019, offering flights five times per week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.  Flights from SFO begin March 31, 2019.  The airline announced economy fares from SFO to London starting as low as $159.90 one-way, including taxes.

Norwegian launched the route from Oakland to London’s Gatwick airport in May 2016.  Along with the move to SFO, Norwegian also announced plans to shift London-Gatwick service from Fort Lauderdale to Miami, while also launching new service from Boston-Logan to Madrid and Rome, and increasing frequencies from other U.S. cities to Madrid, Rome, and Paris.

In 2018, Norwegian was named ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline’ for the fourth consecutive year and ‘Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe’ for the sixth year in a row at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards held in London.  In 2017, Air Transport World named Norwegian ‘Airline of the Year’ and ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline.’
