SFO Celebrates Opening of New Long-Term Parking Garage with $18 Daily Rate Effective May 1st

New Parking Complex doubles Airport's available long-term parking space capacity for customers

The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) today celebrated the opening of the new SFO Long-Term Parking at 794 South Airport Boulevard with a new $18 per day parking rate, effective May 1, 2019. The new six-story garage facility provides 3,600 additional parking stalls adjacent to the existing long-term parking garage with 3,109 spaces.

“We’re excited to give our customers greater value when they park their vehicles at SFO,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “With the opening of this new state-of-the-art parking structure, we are doubling the capacity of our Long-Term Parking Lot to ensure customers can always find a parking space here.”

SFO Long-Term Parking features include: vehicular interconnectivity between the existing long-term parking facility; future AirTrain connectivity; automated parking guidance technology with variable message signage and wayfinding; electric vehicle charging infrastructure; customer amenities space; Park Smart Certification (Green Garage) in sustainable parking facility design and management, and anticipated Net Zero achievement with solar panels generating electricity.

SFO Long-Term Parking is designed and built to be 100% EV charging capable with 3 percent of the parking stalls providing EV charging stations at the facility’s opening. Conversion of the remaining parking stalls to EV charging stations will be realized when demand occurs.

SFO Long-Term Parking also integrates a parking guidance system that utilizes Park Assist and their M4 camera-based smart-sensor powered technology that will help SFO reduce costs, generate new revenue opportunities and create an innovation-driven parking system. It will also be fully integrated with SFO’s Park Access Revenue Control System to add more seamless functionality and further enhance the customer experience. The M4 camera based smart-sensor system uses License Plate Recognition technology, as well as digital directional signage, which helps guide drivers to the nearest available space. Upon entry to the facilities, variable-messaging signage communicates real-time parking space availability and lets drivers know where to turn and park.

Design and construction of SFO Long-Term Parking began in early 2016. The project team included Nibbi Brothers Associates, Inc., design-builder (Kwan-Henmi/FMC/Watry-Buehler Collaborative architects/designers) and The Allen Group/Cooper Pugeda Management, Inc., JV as project management support services, as well as SFO Parking Management with New South Parking, Inc., and other SFO stakeholders who were instrumental in delivering the project. The team’s exemplary performance highlights the Airport’s standard of doing business to deliver exceptional projects within a structured collaborative partnering environment. The project is within budget, and the facility opened ahead of schedule.
