Stakeholder Information Event - Floodplain

Sea Level RiseIn 2010, the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) including SFO, joined the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) PDF iconNational Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  By participating in this program, SFO adheres to the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and develops strategies to protect areas which could be affected by a 100-year flood.

Based on a detailed San Francisco Bay Area Coastal Study, this preliminary FIRM designates portions of the City as coastal flood hazard areas, which include the Airport. On November 12, 2015, FEMA issued a  PDF iconpreliminary FIRM to inform flood risk in San Francisco and followed by a PDF iconpost preliminary FIRM procedures for community’s information and actions.

To better understand the impact of this Preliminary FIRM and the impact a floodplain will have on SFO Tenants – and how tenants can prepare – all SFO Stakeholders are encouraged to attend an informational event, presented by FEMA and CCSF.  Here FEMA will present the preliminary FIRM for the region and answer questions about how the map will affect stakeholders.
