Tuesday Class

  • 11:30a.m. - 12:00p.m. - Strong Zumba (2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month)
  • 12:00p.m. - 12:45p.m. - Zumba (Every Wednesday)

Look for the elevators near the G-side Food Court behind ticket aisles 2 & 3 (between the currency exchange and oversize baggage check).  Take the elevator to 5th floor, turn right and then turn left.  The room is located in the center of the hall.

SFO’s Zumba classes are available to all Airport Commission employees. All levels are welcome! Instructor Claudia Rodas will teach you all the moves. She starts the class with time to warm-up and then the fun begins!

Zumba mixes effective body sculpting movements with easy to follow, fun dance steps. Zumba combines Latin dancing, including salsa, mambo, cha-cha, cumbia and merengue, as well as hip-hop and belly dancing moves, with interval and resistance training for a full-body, rhythmic workout. By focusing on interval training, classes seek to burn calories without exhausting participants with a constant high-impact pace for level two or low impact for beginners.

Zumba can help you to build both muscle tone and cardiovascular endurance. These two benefits bring about a variety of positive health effects, including a lowered risk of developing hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and obesity. A traditional Zumba class focuses on raising your heart rate and toning your leg muscles as well as your core.

Strong Zumba has an increased benefit to strength building and reaching weight loss goals faster while moving in sync with music making students work harder.

Claudia Rodas

Claudia Rodas has more than 15 years of experience as a dancer and choreographer, beginning with modern dance in her home country of El Salvador. Claudia immigrated to the United States in 2002 and earned her license as a Zumba instructor in 2008. Zumba has given Claudia the opportunity to share her love of dance with people of all ages and fitness levels. “Nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone in good health and getting fit while having fun and enjoying the music!” said Claudia.

Claudia is certified in Pilates and Foam Rolling Massage (through SCW Fitness,) licensed Body Pump Instructor (through the Lesmills Program), certified YMCA Water Fitness Instructor, YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant, and is licensed in Zumba Basic 1, Gold, Zumbatomic, Toning, Aqua Zumba, and Zumba in the Circuit. You can find Claudia teaching these programs around the San Francisco Bay Area at the Presidio, Stonestown YMCA, San Francisco City Hall, Pacifica Park and Recreation, Palo Alto Jewish Community Center, San Francisco State University, Pedro Point Fire House in Pacifica and 24 Hour fitness in San Francisco.
