Video Arts Room, International Terminal, Main Hall
Please join AAPI@SFO and SFO Museum’s Video Arts Program as we amplify four distinct Asian American and Pacific Islander voices through the medium of short film. Featured stories include the story of a young South Asian American girl who questions the meaning of success; a Korean Canadian youth wrestling with his identity; an Indigenous Hawaiian community’s struggle to preserve their ancestral land; and a visual poem that shares voices of the Asian diaspora in the United States.
Following the viewing, we will have a Q&A with Los Angeles-based filmmaker Jon Jon “JJ” Augustavo. JJ is an award-winning Filipino American filmmaker, commercial and music video director. He strives to tell stories of those who are rarely heard and under-represented by bringing a youthful spirit and contemporary style to his storytelling.
