San Francisco Fire Department

The San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) is responsible for responding to requests for fire suppression, medical emergencies, mass casualty incidents, water rescue emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, structure incidents as well as any aircraft emergency.

The SFFD has three fire stations and a Marine Emergency Response Facility (MERF) located on airport grounds that enable the Division to operate four Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles, two structural fire engines, one aerial ladder, two paramedic response vehicles, and if necessary, deploy a 44’ catamaran jet boat.

The SFFD provides CPR/First Aid classes to Airport Commission employees as well as Airport tenants. The SFFD—Airport Division also has a Bureau of Fire Prevention with a staff of five located at the Airport.
