Did you know that the works of art at SFO are made possible through two distinct programs: SFO Museum and the San Francisco Arts Commission? SFO Museum, a division of SFO, presents a series of rotating exhibitions displayed in the terminal galleries, as well as the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum located in the International Terminal. The San Francisco Arts Commission, an agency of the City and County of San Francisco, curates the collection of permanent art displayed throughout SFO.

Did you know that the Museum Education Program for children is one of the ways SFO Museum is able to enrich the visitor experience? Learning opportunities are offered through curricula designed for specific grade levels that relate to California Department of Education Content Standards. 

Did you know that SFO recently opened a new Police Training Facility, a range and training center created for various law enforcement agencies supporting SFO to develop their tactical and inter-agency skills?  The facility replaced and upgraded an existing training range located on the north side of Airport grounds, away from the passenger terminals.

Did you know that SFO's Wag Brigade launched in 2013 and brings trained animals to the terminals to make passenger travel more enjoyable? The San Francisco SPCA certifies all participating animals through their Animal Assisted Therapy (ATT) Program. 

Did you know that, under the SFO Noise Insulation Program, which began in 1983, SFO helped fund the installation of noise insulation in over 15,000 dwellings and other eligible structures which fell within the 65-decibel Noise Exposure Map?

Did you know that installation of a large solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of the Long-Term Parking structure includes 2,700 panels that generate about 40% of the annual power needs for the AirTrain station located there?

Did you know that SFO initiated a project in collaboration with United Airlines and Audubon International’s Raptor Relocation Network to trap and relocate barn owls and red-tailed hawks, two of our top five species most often struck by airplanes? This project aims to protect both birds and planes to achieve safer skies for all flyers.

Did you know that, to avoid populated residential areas at night, eastbound aircraft can fly up or down the San Francisco Bay on a nighttime procedure/path known as the NIITE? During the day, these SFO flights fly across the San Francisco Bay toward Oakland International Airport and the Oakland Hills.

Did you know that October is Cybersecurity Awareness month?  Hackers attack every 39 seconds – or 2,244 times - each day. And, 46% of all organizations get their malware through emails. Our vigilance helps keep SFO and San Francisco a safe digital city.
