May is Mental Health Awareness Month

The average employee spends about 2080 hours a year in the workplace. It is no wonder that mental health and well-being are important components of a healthy work environment. How we feel and cope at work can significantly impact our lives both in and outside of work. How are you contributing to a healthy workplace and a culture of caring?

To better understand the needs of workers, Harvard Business Review conducted a survey in 2023. Surveying a diverse cross-section of people, they found that 78% of workers believe “a healthy and sustainable culture of work” is most helpful. “A safe and supportive culture for mental health” came in at 67%, both indicating the importance of a healthy work environment.

Some stress is healthy and can help you react quickly and effectively to certain situations. However, too much stress can make it hard to focus and complete tasks. When stress is not managed, it can pose serious concerns for your physical and mental health and lead to burnout. Work stress is often unavoidable, but we can learn healthy ways to manage our stress and mental health at work.

Your mental health journey starts with a single moment, so Don’t Wait—Reach Out  for help. During May, explore tools and resources to support you in developing a healthy workplace that fosters health and well-being.
