The recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has put millions of families at risk of experiencing food insecurity. On average, 500,000 people receive food from Second Harvest of Silicon Valley (SHFB) every month; that is double the number SHFB assisted before the pandemic. To serve our neighboring communities including South San Francisco and San Bruno, SFO has partnered with SHFB to provide an on-Airport location for drive-through food distribution.
SFO’s MVP Committee is looking for volunteers to assist SHFB with tasks such as food distribution, client registration, and traffic control.
- Dates: February 16; March 1; March 15
- Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
- Location: SFO TNC Staging Lot – surface parking lot adjacent to Long Term Surface Parking Lot
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
(1) Employees may take the Long-Term parking shuttle to the lot or park their vehicle at the Long-Term Parking Garage during
their shift. (2) This program is anticipated to temporarily occur on the first and third Mondays of each month and volunteers will
continue to be needed.
SFO employees who would like to volunteer during their regular work hours must have prior supervisor approval and must perform their usual health check before coming on-Airport to volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of the scheduled distributions, please e-mail
