The system ensures that each bag is placed in an individually controlled tote from ticket counter check-in all the way to the plane with 100% tracking and traceability all along the way.

Did you know that the AirTrain replaced the airport's diesel-powered rental car shuttle buses, which operated 600 round trips per day. Powered by clean hydro-electricity, AirTrain eliminates all emissions for a service used by one in six Airport customers.

Did you know that, although federal regulations require U.S. airports to conduct an emergency drill every three years, SFO conducts its full-scale emergency drill annually to ensure the highest level of readiness?

Did you know that SFO adopted a Clean Vehicle Policy in February of 2000? The policy strongly encourages the replacement of gasoline and diesel vehicles with clean air vehicles powered by alternative fuels like electricity and renewable compressed natural gas (RCNG).

Did you know that the SFO Life-Saver program strategically places automated external defibrillator (AED) units in highly visible locations throughout the airport? Each unit is housed in a cabinet and directly linked to the Airport’s Communications Center. Once it is pulled from the cabinet, San Francisco Fire Paramedics and San Francisco Police are immediately dispatched to the scene.

Did you know that Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States? Upon arrival in the U.S. from international travel, Global Entry members are able to bypass the traditional CBP inspection lines and use automated kiosks.
