Each year, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW), SFO recognizes one of its 911 dispatchers whose service best exemplifies the Airport’s commitment to public safety.   This year, Airport Communications Center employee Jonray Woolbright has been named SFO’s Dispatcher of the Year.  A dedicated employee of the Airport’s Communications Center, Jonray was nominated and voted on by his peers and supervisors.

A Public Safety Dispatcher at the Airport for 20 years, Jonray began his career with SFO in February of 2001, and has also served as a Certified Training Officer for the past 18 years.  In addition to his Dispatcher duties, Jonray also serves as the departmental shop steward, volunteering his time to represent and support Communications staff in various Union matters.

“He is supportive to his peers & supervisors, well rounded, good natured and pleasant to work with” says Senior Airport Communications Dispatcher Natre Burks.  “He is very knowledgeable and a team player. He seeks to find the positive in every scenario and is a patient dispatcher.”

Held during the second week in April, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week recognizes and celebrates telecommunications personnel across the United Sates for their commitment and service to public safety.  Often known as “faceless heroes”, these individuals, such as 911 dispatchers, perform critical, lifesaving duties for the general public as well as for police officers and fire fighters.
