This last year has certainly tested our strength, adaptability, and resilience. There are countless examples of our employees going above and beyond their regular work, especially to ensure the safety and health of others. Through our Annual Employee Recognition Awards, we honor team members whose work and contributions have supported the Airport’s Mission, Core Values, Strategic Goals, and Initiatives in an exceptional way.
As we continue to navigate our way through the different phases of the recovery landscape, please take this time to reflect upon our achievements and to nominate individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary performance this past calendar year. When nominating an individual and/or team, be sure to reflect upon the Airport’s Core Values and how the actions of the individual and/or team meaningfully demonstrated these values. You are encouraged to discuss your nominations with your managers, supervisors, and leads. Nominees must be in good standing in order to be considered for any award.
Below is a complete list of the employee awards and nomination criteria:
William R. O’Brien Employee of the Year Award for Employee Excellence
- Long-term exemplary contributions to the mission of SFO;
- Outstanding performance; and
- Innovation and/or services beyond the call of duty.
Administrative Professional Excellence Award
Outstanding administrative secretarial and/or clerical support demonstrating substantial contributions in the following areas:
- Consistently exceeds expectations by performing at a high level, above and beyond general job requirements;
- Takes initiative to enhance quality and efficiency of administrative processes and systems;
- Proactively addresses issues and demonstrates resourcefulness and sound judgement in problem solving; and
- Fosters collaboration, positive communication, and teamwork amongst own team and across all Airport divisions.
Care Award (individual or team)
- Outstanding efforts to promote the well-being of the Airport’s guests, our tenants, our community, and/or other Airport employees.
Safety and Security Excellence Award (individual or team)
- Exemplary efforts enhancing the safety and security for Airport employees;
- Exemplary efforts enhancing the safety and security for the traveling public;
- Development and implementation of an innovative idea or suggestion resulting in a significant improvement in safety and security; or
- Improvement in methods resulting in overall enhancement of our safety and security culture.
Service to Communities Award (individual or team)
- Exemplary community outreach efforts performed on behalf of the Airport;
- Outstanding contributions to the Airport’s surrounding communities; and
- Providing exceptional service beyond the call of duty.
Team Recognition Award (two or more employees)
- Exemplary work performed on behalf of the public;
- Development and implementation of an innovative idea or suggestion resulting in a change of customer service delivery;
- Development and implementation of an innovative idea or suggestion resulting in Airport cost savings; or
- Improvement in teamwork methods resulting in general safety and security management.
