Construction Bulletin: Temporary Aircraft Engine Run-Up Pad

In support of the Runway 28R Rehabilitation Project the following closures have been put in place to facilitate this important work:

May 5th, 2021 through June 12th, 2021

  • Taxiway C will be Closed between Runway 01R/19L and Runway 10R/28L.
  • Taxiway L will be Closed between Runway 10R/28L and Runway 01R/19L.
  • The Engine Run-Up Pads at the Intersections of Taxiways E/L, V/L, and C/W are Closed.
  • The Temporary Engine Run-Up Pad will be on Taxiway E between Taxiway C and Taxiway V (Facing SOUTH).

Due to the closure of the engine run-up pads, Taxiway E between Taxiway C and Taxiway V (Facing South) will be the temporary run-up pad.  The run-up pad is on ASPHALT pavement, so users should refer to the maximum engine output allowable on asphalt surfaces under engine up per the aircraft manufacturers recommendations.

Engine Run-up Pad Procedures Remain Unchanged:

  • Contact Airside Operations at (650) 821-3355 for engine run-up pad approval.
    • Operators may request a “follow-me vehicle” for assistance.
    • Operators must advise Airside Operations if they will be bringing a support vehicle to the pad.
  • Contact FAA Ground Control for taxi clearance.
    • Operators are always encouraged to request “progressive instructions” from the tower for additional assistance and clarity.
