End of Daylight-Saving Time

The end of Daylight-Saving Time, “Fall Back” is fast approaching.  On November 1, 2020 at 2:00 a.m., the clock will be set back 1 hour to 1:00 a.m.  This requires all employees who work a shift which is affected by the time change (2:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.) to work 1 extra hour for which they should be compensated at their contractual overtime rate.

Employees will not earn overtime under the following conditions:

  • Scheduled to be off (e.g. vacation, floating holiday, or compensatory time) will only be paid for their 8- or 10-hour regular shift.
  • Work less than their 8- or 10-hour regular shift (e.g. 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), in which case they will only be compensated for the hours worked.

Please contact Payroll promptly should employees arrive late or leave early from their regularly scheduled shift.
