Help Cancer Patients Find a Cure, Save Lives

Our beloved colleague and Land Use Clerk, Erica Major*, was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2023.  Erica needs our help in finding a stem cell match.  For patients with life-threatening blood disorders like leukemia, lymphoma, or sickle cell, a cure exists through a blood stem cell donation.

The Irish Cultural Center is hosting a double drive on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 8:00am - 12:00pm for both the Fire Fighters Union and Erica Major and is partnering with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) to find a Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) match.

*Erica works in the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors office as our Land Use and Transportation Clerk. She is a mother of three boys and has a rare blood cancer and is in need of a stem cell transplant. Please consider a mouth swab on April 23 at the Irish Center to see if you are a potential match for Erica, or someone else in need. The SFFD will also be hosting a blood drive same time and same place!
