Masks Are Still Mandatory Inside Airport Facilities

Federal requirement inside all air, rail and bus terminals remains in effect

SFO reminded passengers and employees that, despite upcoming revisions to the State of California’s universal mask mandate in indoor spaces, face masks are still required inside all airport facilities. A federal mandate from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) remains in effect requiring all air, rail and bus travelers over the age of 2 to wear a mask at all times in these locations.

Face masks are still required for all individuals, including workers and members of the public, when entering or when located in the indoor areas of SFO. There are no exceptions based on vaccination status. The existing civil penalty fine structure will also remain in place which starts at $250 and rises to $1,500 for repeat offenders who violate this face mask requirement.
