Thank you for your hard work and dedication during this challenging time. Our City and communities are being well served during this public health crisis because of you. Your health and welfare are a top priority.
To achieve the City’s goal of universal access to COVID-19 testing, testing is continually expanding, based on where the need is greatest and the availability of resources. The Department of Public Health (DPH) has stabilized the supply chain for testing, and it is now available for all essential workers regardless of symptoms or exposure.
As of May 4, any essential or frontline worker can now be tested, regardless of symptoms or exposure. You can decide when you want to test, but it is important to test immediately when you feel ill, have symptoms, or if you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19.
This test is easy, fast, and free. Results are available within 24 to 48 hours.
Additionally, I want to share that DPH has expended testing for anyone living in San Francisco who either has one symptom or who has been exposed to a COVID-19 positive person.
This test detects the virus at the time of the test only. It does not test for immunity or if you had the virus in the past. If you test negative for the virus, you must remain cautious because you can still get the virus. If you have already been tested and received a negative result but still have symptoms or believe you have been exposed, please get retested. It is possible you contracted the virus after being tested.
To make an appointment, please visit: sf.gov/citytestsf or call 311.
Your health and the health of your loved ones and our community is best protected when you test early if you think that you have been exposed or believe you have symptoms. Please test to avoid community spread of the virus through asymptomatic contacts.
Thank you for all that you do for our City, Airport, and its residents.
