In an effort that exemplifies SFO’s Core Values, the Motivating Volunteer Participation (MVP) Committee is leading a mask-making initiative to fill a vital need and help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The initiative seeks to get individuals to volunteer their time to sew simple, non-hospital grade facial coverings for use by the Airport community. So far, 6 employees have stepped up to volunteer their sewing skills to the effort, producing a total of 190 masks to date.
The MVP Committee coordinates the distribution of the masks to the Airport community through Safety, Health and Wellness. Excess masks will be donated to our non-profit partners who need them.
A big thank you to the employees who have contributed their time and talents to this effort: Hazelle Fernandez, Jaruvan Li, Emi Aoki, and Anny Lee with Accounting; Trudy Homer with Planning, Design & Construction; and Teresa Rivor with Aviation Management. These employees are a shining example of the Teamwork and Care that make SFO great, and they make the Airport proud.
Volunteers are still needed. If you do not know how to sew, you can help by donating materials including 100% cotton cloth, elastic and thread. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail sfomvp@flysfo.com or call Hazelle Fernandez at 650.821.2881
