March 14th celebrated the official groundbreaking for the construction of a new Bus Maintenance Facility at SFO. Our team was excited to commemorate the occasion with our SFO partners and stakeholders.
The one-story, 8,000-square-foot Bus Maintenance Facility replaces a building that opened in 1983 with a more sustainable and efficient design, including a two-bay vehicle service garage, equipment storage, offices, locker rooms, restrooms, conference room, staff parking with EV chargers, and rooftop photovoltaic panels.
During the ceremony, SFO Airport Director Ivar Satero expressed, “Our bus infrastructure is incredibly important for this airport. One of my favorite initiatives is our Go SFO shuttle. It helps us recruit and retain workers and (our new Facility is) going to transform the way we do bus maintenance and serve the workers.”
Swinerton will be providing general contracting services, including self-performing the demolition, concrete, millwork, drywall, doors/frames/hardware, and final clean services for cost and schedule efficiency.
