SFO is more than a world-class travel hub; it’s a vibrant community, shaped by the many small, local, and diverse businesses that call our airport home. From your go-to coffee shop to unique retail stores and diverse dining experiences, these businesses infuse our terminals with character, culture, and connection. It’s no wonder SFO continues to be recognized as one of the best airports in North America by Business Traveler magazine.
These small businesses—your favorite bookstore, boutique eatery, or gift shop—are the heart of our airport experience. During Small Business Month, SFO invites you to show your support by visiting and shopping at one of the many small businesses that make our airport special.
To mark this important month, the Airport partnered with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to host Opening Up Shop at SFO: Demystifying the Path to Small Business Success, an interactive workshop designed to empower aspiring entrepreneurs. Hosted by our Social Impact and Revenue Development & Management teams, this event brought together business owners, industry experts, and airport partners to share insights, build connections, and inspire the next generation of airport entrepreneurs.

A special thank you goes to two of SFO’s own small business success stories: Becky Zhou of Merchandising America, Inc., and Iva Chen of IOC Design and Consulting, who shared their journeys of growth and resilience in the airport environment. Their stories highlight the opportunities for small businesses here at SFO and their impact on our community.
And this is just the beginning. SFO remains deeply committed to expanding pathways and possibilities for small businesses at the Airport and beyond.
So this month, and every month, join us in celebrating the small businesses that enrich the SFO experience. Stop by your favorite shop or restaurant, say thank you, and make a purchase. Your support helps sustain the businesses that invest in our community every day.
