Voluntary pilot program will identify and monitor spread of virus The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has launched a pilot program at SFO to enable near-real-time detection of new COVID-19 variants among travelers entering the United States. Through a collaboration with XpresCheck COVID-19 testing company and Ginkgo Bioworks, the CDC pilot program establishes an enhanced voluntary COVID surveillance among international travelers arriving at SFO. The CDC is launching similar programs at JFK and Newark airports.

COVID-19 Booster Vaccine Clinic In partnership with Safeway Pharmacy, SFO will provide free onsite Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Booster vaccinations. Airport workers age 18 and older are eligible for this clinic. Important: the booster vaccine will only be offered to those who completed their Pfizer series 6 months prior.
