San Francisco has fully reopened and eliminated capacity limits in alignment with the State’s Beyond the Blueprint for Industry and Business Sectors - effective June 15. Mayor London Breed and City Administrator Carmen Chu issued updated guidance for City facilities on June 23, 2021, based on recent changes to workplace safety regulations approved by California Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) on June 17, 2021 and Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order. As such, there are no capacity limits on businesses, gatherings, or activities. This information guides our decisions and response to the pandemic, and will continue to do so as we move forward with recovery.
According to the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the California Department of Public Health, and the San Francisco County Health Officer, vaccination is the most effective way to prevent COVID-19 transmission. I am pleased to report that over 87% of Airport Commission employees are vaccinated.
As the Airport continues with its phased re-opening plan, employees with duties that can be performed remotely will have the flexibility to telecommute up to four (4) days per week with approval from their manager/supervisor during the month of September. Employees requesting to telecommute beyond August 31st must complete a new Pilot Telecommute Program Application and Agreement.
As a reminder, the Airport must comply with federal, state, and local regulations requiring masking regardless of vaccination status in various settings, including transportation hubs. At this time, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Directive requires face coverings to be worn in and on airports. Until further notice, employees must continue to wear face coverings while at the Airport or anywhere on Airport property indoor/outdoor, regardless of vaccination status. Airport Commission employees must continue performing a COVID-19 symptom self-assessment prior to entering the workplace each day.
Please share this information with your teams as you deem appropriate.
Thank you for your continued patience as we re-open and resume normal operations.
