Mayor London N. Breed on April 9 announced that San Francisco’s emergency child and youth care centers will remain open until at least June 2nd to provide a safe place for children of first responders, health care workers, and essential City employees. The extension comes after the San Francisco Unified School District announced this week that public schools will not reopen until the fall.

On Wednesday, April 8, SFO received 150 gallons of hand sanitizer to be delivered to the San Francisco Police Department. Delivered to the Airport by Mountain Lion Aviation, based in Truckee, CA, the sanitizer was manufactured by The Old Trestle Distillery, also based in Truckee, which has recently paused production on its alcoholic spirits to produce hand sanitizer in order to support local community and first responder efforts. The fixed-base operator (FBO) in Truckee donated the fuel, and SFO waived its handling charge in support of this great cause.

Due to the continued decline in air traffic, BART will be reducing train frequency to once every 30 minutes on all lines on weekdays, effective Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Weekend service is unchanged. Weekday trains will arrive at SFO at :13 and :43 past the hour and depart SFO at :26 and :56 past the hour, with some exceptions late at night or early in the morning. Airport remains open, project to renovate remainder of Terminal 3 postponed San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced plans to postpone a project to renovate the remaining section of Terminal 3, where United Airlines operates. The $1B Terminal 3 West project, originally slated to begin physical construction in June, will be postponed at least six months. This move is a result of reduced passenger and flight activity resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. This project postponement will not affect where airlines operate at SFO.
