COVID-19 Testing Site for Frontline City Employees

Thank you to all our City employees who are contributing to the City’s coordinated response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to support the health and safety of first responders, health care providers, and others on the front lines, the City has opened a new testing site for City employees who have symptoms that could be COVID-19. CityTestSF is located at Piers 30-32 at the Port of San Francisco. Eligible employees have received an email, which will allow them to report their symptoms and make an appointment for a test. All testing at the site is by appointment.

SFO Employee Coordinates Donation of Masks from China

SFO employee Zihong Gorman recently helped coordinate a donation of 3,000 surgical masks from Shendong, China to help essential employees during the COVID-19 health crisis.  The masks were delivered on April 2nd and are being distributed to Commission employees by the Safety, Health and Wellness department.

If you do not know how to sew, you can help by donating materials including 100% cotton cloth, elastic and thread.

SFO to Shut Down Some Moving Equipment to Conserve Energy

As a result of the current reductions in flight activity, the Airport has decided to shut down non-critical moving equipment in an effort to conserve energy and reduce wear and tear. Beginning Thursday, April 9, 2020, the Airport will start to shut down some moving equipment which will include all electric walks and some redundant escalators. Elevators will not be included in this action. Directional signage will be posted at the impacted escalators directing passengers to alternate escalators or nearby elevators. Advisory notices will be placed at the electric walks.   ...

San Francisco Extends Emergency Child and Youth Care Until End of School Year

Mayor London N. Breed on April 9 announced that San Francisco’s emergency child and youth care centers will remain open until at least June 2nd to provide a safe place for children of first responders, health care workers, and essential City employees. The extension comes after the San Francisco Unified School District announced this week that public schools will not reopen until the fall.
