San Francisco Health Service System (SFHSS) recently announced that employees and retirees who are eligible for SFHSS benefits can now make mid-year elections, only once, between now and December 31, 2020 without a qualifying event.

As part of the Airport COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan, in accordance with the San Francisco Department of Human Resources (DHR) guidance, “Requirements for Conducting Health Screenings for Employees” updated June 2, 2020, departments with employees whose work or activities offer a potentially increased risk of exposure to COVID‑19 must conduct temperature screening of these employees before allowing them to start work each day. As a result of the continued reduced flight and passenger activity related to the COVID-19 crisis, Boarding Area A has been closed since April 1, 2020. The original closure was planned through June 1, 2020 and subsequently extended to June 28, 2020. Based on a careful review of current scheduled operations for July 2020, even with the continued return of passenger flights and ad-hoc cargo operations, we are still able to accommodate all International Operations on Boarding Area G (Gates G1 – G14).

City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) employees who work on‑site must be free from symptoms of COVID-19 infection to prevent further spread of the virus. Therefore, effective Monday, June 15, 2020, all Airport Commission employees will be required to certify they are free of COVID-19 symptoms before reporting to the workplace each day. This will be accomplished through a “self-screening and self-certification” process that requires consideration of three questions regarding COVID-19 symptoms and exposure and providing a “yes” or “no” answer.
